Survey
Standards

Every surveyor files under these standards. Reports that fall outside them are returned for revision — not struck. Read them once and file with confidence.

01

Standard 01

True Work

Every filing must show your own genuine work, whether a concept, a drawing, a build in progress, or a finished piece. The Registry records real work honestly claimed, not empty claims and not work passed off from someone else.

02

Standard 02

Own Hand

You may only file work that is yours. Kits built from a box are welcome, but the filing must be your build, not another person's model shown as your own.

03

Standard 03

In the World

A filing must fit the world of Longlight, a rebuilt world at a 1980s mechanical level with its relics and factions. Work that clearly belongs to another setting can be filed only once it has been brought honestly into ours.

04

Standard 04

Clear Record

The photo or image must show the subject plainly enough to be recorded. A blurry, dark, or hidden subject cannot be surveyed.

05

Standard 05

Honest Note

The field note must describe the piece truthfully. You may invent your surveyor's story, but you may not lie about what the work is or how it was made.

06

Standard 06

Right Type

The subject must be filed under the correct subject type, so the record stays searchable. A vehicle goes under a vehicle, a site under a site.

07

Standard 07

Plain Respect

No filing may carry hateful, cruel, or explicit content. The Registry is a shared table, and everyone keeps it clean.

08

Standard 08

One Subject, One Serial

Do not file the same build again for a new number. New photos, updates, and stage changes go under the subject's existing serial as fresh filings, because the record grows, it does not repeat.

Glossary

Registry terms

Build
One object on file — a machine, tower, corridor, settlement, and so on. A vehicle and the scene it stands in are one build. Each build has one permanent serial and gathers many surveys over time.
Survey
A dated field report on one build at one moment. A build's page holds every survey record filed on it, newest first.
Surveyor
A commissioned contributor authorised to file a build. Each surveyor has a public page listing their surveys.
Serial vs. Survey ID
The serial identifies the build for life (e.g. a Settlement carries an SM code). The survey ID identifies one individual survey about it.
Anchor
The single most striking physical feature a surveyor records — the detail that anchors the report.
Condition & Risk
A build's access grade: A — Open · C — Caution · X — Closed · U — Unmapped.
Canon vs. Community
Canon builds are part of the established world canon; community builds are founded by surveyors and grow the world outward.
Ledger / Pedigree
Modules and vehicles (MOD builds) are tracked as a ledger — an ordered pedigree of who held them and what changed — rather than a set of standalone surveys.
