Global Protection Force

The old guardians who kept their posts after the world went quiet.

Chartered before the Silence to protect the climate fleet, the Force held its depots even after the machines fell silent. Today it protects relics, restores infrastructure, and holds more living modules than anyone. It also carries a secret, because whatever records of the treatment survived, survived in GPF hands.

Scrapers

Independent salvagers digging, always, toward the Longlight.

Scouts, mechanics, and sometimes thieves. Some scrape for food, some to preserve what others would waste, and all of them are digging toward the glow, because one living module buys more than a year of parts.

Signal Corps

Towers, runners, and maps — information moving across a broken world.

The Signal Corps keeps the world connected. They hold the towers, beacons, and emergency channels, and they keep the glow logs, the long record that tracks how each surviving light holds steady, fades, or dies, but never brightens. The Corps also carries the old work of the couriers and the mapmakers. Message runners carry word between settlements by hand where no tower reaches, on foot, on bikes, on horseback, and a runner's satchel is treated as neutral cargo in every town on the route. Mapmakers ride the same roads keeping routes current in a world where washouts, slides, and rewilding move the land under you between seasons. Towers, runners, and maps are three parts of one job.

Wildkin

One green faith, two wings: the Tenders who help it back, the Reclaimers who take it back.

Wildkin are the people who believe the world should be given back to nature. They are one family split into two wings that share the same green faith and answer it in opposite ways. Same belief underneath, two answers. One side waits and helps. The other side takes back by force.

Thornbands

A cult that reads the Silence as the reckoning, and waits for what comes next.

The Thornbands are a religious cult. They believe the Silence was the reckoning, the sign that the end has come and a second coming is near. Their fight is about faith, not land or machines. They read the dark world as prophecy fulfilled and act on what they believe is coming. They have no environmental cause at all.

Foundries

The guilds keeping the whole mechanical world alive.

They cast, forge, machine, weld, and teach, and in back rooms they chase the two lost arts, the Deepline and the treatment. The treatment was made once by people in a dying world, so it can be found again, and no guild has stopped looking.

Rail League

The trains run on time, and the League says that is the same as running the world.

Masters of moving weight, with manifests and delivery you can set a clock by. They claim no towns, only the right of way, and defend the timetable the way others defend territory.

Showfolk

The crews who carry the old culture the way couriers carry mail.

Traveling shows with projectors, film reels, and a thousand songs, welcome nearly everywhere and protected by custom. The oldest crews trace their wagons to the wartime club trucks that carried coffee and music to soldiers.

Stillfolk

A plain life by choice, worked by hand and kept that way.

The Stillfolk chose the simple life on purpose, in the way the Amish do. They live a plain, specific way by choice, work with their hands, and keep to old basic methods. They respect and protect nature and enjoy living close to it, but they are not an environmental cause and not crusaders. They simply live the way they have chosen and want to be left to it.

Keepers

The people who would not let the world forget.

Born in the Silent Years as those who refused to lose what was known, they became librarians, printers, and teachers, and their work, more than any other, assembled the Registry itself.
